Then, we'll travel to Nara, Japan's first capital. Established in 725 CE, we'll visit Todaiji Temple, the most important temple in Nara. With 18 pillars supporting the roof, this magnificent masterpiece of Kamakura architecture dates back to 743 CE. The temple's most valuable asset is the Great Buddha of Japan, a bronze statue of the Great Buddha, enshrined in the Great Buddha Hall. The original hall was destroyed by fire and rebuilt twice, but the current hall is only two-thirds the size of the original. It also holds the title of the largest wooden temple in the world.
